Aore Island Resort is a quaint family run beachfront resort set on a private and secluded tropical island on Espiritu Santo. 11 km long by 9km wide, the resort is built on a flat coastal area surrounded by working cattle and coconut plantations.  On the upper level there is natural untouched rainforest, a botanical wonderland with huge banyan trees.  Guests can wander safely alone or join a guided tour which is amazing at night where fire flies dance through the trees.

Aore caters for the active and adventurous with easy access to all Espiritu Santo tours whilst enjoying a secluded atmosphere in Aore’s very own slice of paradise.

Accommodation

Aore Island Resort offers comfortable well appointed bungalows built along the beach and surrounded by lush tropical gardens.  There are 18 Bungalows consisting of 8 Studio Beachfront, 2 Studio Gardenview, 5 One bedroom Beachfront  and 3 One Bedroom Gardenview and all include private bathrooms, hot showers, refrigerators, tea & coffee making facilities, irons, hairdryers and ceiling fans. All bungalows are crafted with care, utilising locally sourced timbers from the island and featuring roofs made from traditional Natangora materials.

Studio Bungalows cater exclusively for adults, providing an oasis of serenity and seclusion.

One Bedroom Bungalows are suitable for families featuring a comfortable living area with two single beds and a separate bedroom with a double bed.

Activities

Aore Island Resort offers a treasure trove of activities. Guests can enjoy a Melanesian massage at the Day Spa, kayak along the forsehore, mountain bike through the tropical plantation, learn basket weaving and coconut milk making, visit local markets, snorkel the pristine waters, paddle a traditional outrigger canoe along lush local rivers, or fish the local reefs.  Diving in Santo is world class and famous WW II sites including “SS President Coolidge” and “Million Dollar Point” are a short 20 minute boat trip from the resort.

Visit the spectacular Blue Holes, where you can swing from giant Banyan trees into an impossibly clear freshwater spring. Explore pristine areas of tropical vegetation and discover varieties of orchids, birds and butterflies. Ride horses through the largest cattle plantation in Vanuatu. Marvel at the many WW2 relics or picnic on a private tropical island. Visit a local village and learn about traditional Melanesian customs or take the unforgettable Millenium cave tour. Aore hosts regular Island Nights featuring traditional musicians, dancers and local cuisine.

Dining

A large open air Nakamal houses Aore’s restaurant and bar at Aore Island Resort, creating a truly authentic Melanesian dining experience. A quality menu of locally and internationally inspired cuisine is prepared by experienced resort chefs. A tropical breakfast is available everyday from 7:00am, with fresh fruit and fresh bread baked in-house, daily. The full menu, available for lunch and dinner is light and healthy. The special’s blackboard changes daily to showcase the freshest local cuisine including Santo beef, world famous for its taste and tenderness and local seafood straight from the boat. Guests can choose from wide range of cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages and fine international wines.

Aore’s brand new beach bar is open a couple of tiems during the week offering a relaxed beachside venue where guests can enjoy a casual lunch or dinner including sumptuous BBQs, grilled seafood and woodfired pizzas, washed down with a selection of icy cold beers and margaritas.

Location & Access

Aore is a leisurely 10 minute ride across the Segond Channel, which is a 10 minute drive from Santo Airport. Flights from Port Vila to Santo run 3 times a day, the flight time is around 45 minutes. A direct service from Brisbane to Santo is also available.

Family Travel

Aore Island Resort welcomes kids year round and whilst no official kids club is offered there are plenty of activities to entertain. The One bedroom Bungalows are ideal for families as they have a double bed in a separate bedroom and two single beds in the living style area. The grounds and beach are safe with easy snorkelling.

Studio Bungalows on the east side of the Resort are adults only, providing a quiet, child-free area.

Aore is a charming family run resort, a perfect location to relax with family and friends or a base to access many wonderful dive and natural sights in the region.

Best Time to Travel

Aore Island Resort has a tropical climate. From November to April it can be hot and humid but cool breezes along the coast generally keep the temperature at a comfortable level. The cooler season is between May and October with breezes, sunny days and lower temperatures. In these months guests may need a long sleeve shirt or light jacket at night. The temperature of the sea is always pleasant, varying form 24 degrees in the cooler months to 28 degrees in summer.
