At Soneva Jani, the resort’s philosophy is that food is an experience that should be savoured and enjoyed. Guests can choose from culinary delights at  Soneva Jani’s signature restaurants and customised dining experiences.

Soneva Jani’s overwater restaurant The Gathering is a two-story dining pavillion serving a sumptuous breakfast downstairs at Down to Earth, continuing with organic salads, live cooking stations, wood-fired pizza oven, tandoors and grills throughout the day. The Gathering Bar and The Wine Cellar offer drinks, tapas, and a selection of predominantly organic or biodynamic wines, while So Engaging is Soneva Jani’s chef’s table offering a mystery menu for five special guests.

Upstairs the  Asian Kitchen offers Chinese, Indonesian, Thai, and Cambodian cuisine.

Guests can enjoy a scrumptious breakfast whilst enjoying the majestic views of South Beach at So Cold, also offering  a range of local, international and nutritious delicacies, gourmet charcuterie, cheese and preserves that can be enjoyed throughout the day and evening.

Other options include So Wild by Diana Von Cranach featuring fresh and organic plant based cuisine, The Crab Shack where guests can feast on a rotating selection of crab dishes, and Overseas by Mathias Dahlgrenr where guests can enjoy curated dishes featuring seafood, vegetarian, and plant-based options.

Located within the resorts Organic Garden, So Local serves a rotating selection of dishes from around the world, while So Primitive features grilled delicacies at South Beach.

Director’s Cut offers a contemporary twist on modern Japanese cuisine whilst guests take in a film at the resort’s silent theatre.

Location & Access

Soneva Jani is located in the Medhufaru lagoon in the Noonu Atoll in the Maldives. The resort is accessible by seaplane, which takes approximately 40-45 minutes from Velana International Airport in Male, either operated by Trans Maldivian Airways or privately cahrtered onboard Soneva’s own seaplane (additional cost).

Alternatively guests flying directly into Maafaru International Airport in the Noonu Atoll, can transfer to Soneva Jani via a short speedboat ride.

Guests travelling between Soneva Jani and sister resort Soneva Fushi can transfer via Speedboat in 70 minutes.

Best Time to Travel

The Maldives is an all-season destination, with a tropical climate, sunshine-filled days and temperatures averaging 30°C all year round. Diving is good at any time of the year, however the monsoon season (May-October) is the best season for manta rays and other marine life due to the higher quantities of plankton.  In the dry season (November-April), expect clear blue skies, light sea breezes and tropical sunshine.
